As a part of the development of Nordhavn and its mobility, 'A Stretched Cathedral' balances between strategic planning and detailed design for the human scale. The project showcase how an inclusive urban space with the cathedral as a metaphor for contemplative space creates postive degrees of friction in a fast-paced society. /

Strategy

Why cathedral? The scope of the project is based in mobility and how the gapscape underneath the tracks of the metro weaves into the urban tissue of Nordhavn. By applying the principles of how a cathedral is programmed, a course of arrival, motion and contemplation evolves to help guide the degrees of friction present in designing metros - social, technical, and aesthetic friction.
